A Day in FOCUS

A day in FOCUS on New Haven will involve community site placement volunteering, exploring New Haven through visiting restaurants and small businesses, and bonding amongst FOCUS families through discussions and group activities. Below is a sample itinerary: 

Day 3 - Community Service Day

8:00am - 9:00am FOCUS Family Check-In Breakfast at Yale Dining Hall
10:00am - 12:00pm Community Volunteering Students volunteer on site with our community partners, working on projects alongside community members and their FOCUS family.
12:10pm -  12:50pm Lunch Picnic-Style Lunches
1:00pm -  3:00pm Community Volunteering Students continue volunteer projects. 
3:00pm - 4:15pm Break Students are provided time to rest and recuperate before programming continues
4:30pm - 5:30pm Speaker Events Students hear from a selection of New Haven activists, scholars, and leaders on current civil issues and social justice in the city. 
5:30pm – On Dinner & FOCUS Group Activities Dinner in Yale Dining Hall. FOCUS families convene for community reflections and group bonding.
